Infrastructure Operations and Engineering (IO&E)is a domain within IO, focused on delivering comprehensive engineering and optimization support to operational environments. Our team keeps the VA’s nationwide data centers running 24×7×365 so Veterans get the care and benefits they depend on. We engineer, operate, monitor, and modernize the enterprise and regional data centers, telecom spaces, and secure network connections behind every claim, prescription, appointment, and benefits payment. Our engineers design and optimize compute, cabling, power, and cooling infrastructure and publish the standards that shape the VA’s next decade of growth.
Our operations teams provide continuous monitoring, rapid incident response, and on-site support for racking, cabling, and decommissioning. Our DCIM and integration teams maintain the VA’s source of truth for data center assets and reporting, while our analytics group turns raw telemetry into the refresh roadmap that prevents outages and keeps critical systems reliable.
We’re hiring across all four service lines: onsite data center operations, enterprise data center and cloud engineering, DCIM platform operations and analytics, and facility infrastructure reporting and refresh planning.
Roles span site operations leadership, 24×7 watch and shift supervision, critical facilities engineering, infrastructure and network engineering, ITSM change and problem coordination, cybersecurity, automation and AIOps, electrical and mechanical SMEs, capacity and reliability engineering, commissioning, standards and documentation, DCIM administration, asset and configuration management, telemetry engineering, data modeling, analytics, lifecycle and refresh planning, construction estimating, and program coordination.
