About The Role

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer with extensive Hardware Asset Management (HAM) expertise to design, implement, and optimize ServiceNow ITAM and HAM solutions. This role focuses on configuring and managing auto-discovery capabilities, CMDB architecture, and asset lifecycle workflows while ensuring compliance with industry standards for IT governance, security, and asset management best practices. The developer will work with ServiceNow platform modules, integration tools, and collaborate with IT operations teams to deliver comprehensive asset management solutions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) solutions.
  • Configure and optimize Discovery and Service Mapping for comprehensive asset auto-discovery across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain Configuration Management Database (CMDB) architecture, including CI relationships, data models, and reconciliation rules.
  • Develop and maintain ServiceNow workflows, business rules, UI policies, and client scripts for HAM processes.
  • Implement asset lifecycle management workflows including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Configure and optimize Discovery patterns, probes, and sensors for accurate hardware inventory.
  • Work with enterprise architects and IT operations to define CMDB strategy, data standards, and governance policies.
  • Integrate ServiceNow with third-party tools (procurement systems, monitoring tools, cloud platforms) using REST/SOAP APIs and Integration Hub.
  • Perform CMDB health assessments, data quality audits, and implement normalization and reconciliation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver HAM solutions aligned with ITIL best practices.
  • Enable reporting and dashboards using ServiceNow Performance Analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Apply IT governance, security, and compliance standards (ITIL, ISO 19770, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on ServiceNow best practices.
  • Configure using Agile Methodology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with the team and leaders.
Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. 12+ years work experience; with,
  • 7–10 years of experience in ServiceNow development and administration.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and ITAM modules.
  • Expert-level proficiency in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB configuration.
  • Strong experience with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide Script, business rules, script includes).
  • Proven experience implementing auto-discovery across diverse environments (Windows, Linux, network devices, cloud infrastructure).
  • Deep understanding of CMDB data models, CI relationships, and reconciliation/identification engines.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and data imports.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required.
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Discovery or ITAM certification highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • 3–5 years of experience with ITIL processes and IT service management frameworks.
  • Experience with data migration and transformation using Import Sets and Transform Maps.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow platform upgrades and update set management.
  • US Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Strong experience with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide Script, business rules, script includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, ACLs).
  • Experience in Flow Designer

 

Desired Skills

  • Additional ServiceNow certifications (CIS-Discovery, CIS-HAM, CIS-SAM, Application Developer).
  • Experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) and license optimization.
  • Knowledge of cloud asset discovery (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience with ServiceNow Performance Analytics and custom reporting solutions.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for ServiceNow (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git-based version control).
  • Experience with ServiceNow App Engine Studio and Flow Designer.
  • Knowledge of network discovery protocols (SNMP, WMI, SSH, JDBC).
  • Familiarity with IT asset management standards (ISO 19770, ITIL 4).
  • Experience with ServiceNow Event Management and operational intelligence.
  • Understanding of vulnerability management integration with CMDB.

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
