Program Overview
Performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
About The Role

SafeGuard Services (SGS), a subsidiary of Peraton, performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse.

 

We are looking to add an Audit Specialist to our SGS team of talented professionals.

 

What you'll do:

 

The MCP Audit Support Specialist provides operational, administrative, and audit execution support to the Managed Care Plan (MCP) audit program. This role supports the end-to-end audit lifecycle by assisting with audit testing activities, coordinating documentation, tracking requests, and ensuring audit work is completed in accordance with CMS requirements, internal methodologies, and regulatory timelines. Key responsibilities include:              

      Audit Execution & Testing Support

  • Assist audit team with audit controls testing, process evaluation, and risk analysis.
  • Help review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and alignment to audit criteria.
  • Support preparation of audit findings, summaries, and analysis.

      Audit Operations & Workflow Support

  • Help maintain audit trackers, status logs, and dashboards.
  • Support coordination across Data, Policy, Statistical, and Medical Review teams.
  • Assist with task scheduling and milestone tracking.

Documentation Support & Organization

  • Assist with audit exhibits, request letters, and document requests.
  • Aid with follow-up activities for missing or late submissions from MCPs.
  • Ensure documentation is audit-ready, properly labeled, and organized.

Process & Compliance Support

  • Identify process gaps or risks and escalate to leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement of audit workflows.
  • Assist with the documentation of standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 years with AS/AA; 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with High School 
  • 2+ years of related experience in finance, accounting or audit.
  • Intermediate knowledge of internal audit policies and operating principles.
  • Intermediate understanding of Medicare/Medicaid or healthcare auditing and their revenue cycles.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • US citizenship required

The most competitive candidates will have:

  • Degree in finance, accounting or related field preferred.
  • Intermediate financial and business acumen.
  • Basic project management skills.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
