Engineering modernization and integration practices to include Digital Engineering and Agile at Scale for all of NGA, NSG, and ASG.
About The Role

The Cloud Architect serves as a key technical leader responsible for shaping, guiding, and advancing the organization’s cloud strategy in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This role oversees the planning, design, and implementation of secure, scalable, and mission-aligned cloud architectures. The Expert Cloud Architect ensures that thorough analyses of cloud service alternatives are conducted and prioritized, enabling the Government to effectively architect business and mission solutions using cloud-based systems and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Cloud Transformation: Lead and support cultural and organizational change initiatives that promote successful cloud adoption across NGA and related mission environments.

  • Architect Cloud Solutions: Oversee the design, development, and coordination of integrated cloud architectures that meet NGA’s operational, security, and mission requirements.

  • Strategic Cloud Planning: Develop and refine enterprise cloud strategies to guide the adoption, migration, and optimization of cloud-based solutions within NGA’s technical ecosystem.

  • Leadership & Oversight: Provide technical direction, mentorship, and quality assurance for teams of Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level Cloud Architects, ensuring alignment with NGA standards, enterprise policies, and best practices.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:


Required:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
  • 18 years of experience in cloud-based systems architecting is required and may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • One or more Cloud Certifications such as:
    o Cloud Certified Solutions Architect
    o AWS Certified
    o Cisco Certified Networking Administrator – Cloud
    o Cisco Certified Network Professional – Cloud
    o IBM Certified Cloud Solution Architect
    o MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
    o VMware Certified Professional (VCP7-CMA)
  • Experience with NGA
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly

Desired:

  • Previous working experience in government or industry, within Cloud Architect profession.
  • Experience architecting solutions using structured and unstructured Big Data.
  • Experience architecting solutions using Automation, Augmentation and Artificial Intelligence
    technologies.
  • Experience architecting solutions using Model Based Systems Engineering.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
