Program Overview
Peraton provides the customer with enterprise infrastructure support to plan, engineer, implement, enhance, maintain and operate the global consular affairs IT environment.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. CAEIO provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications and services globally. 

 

The Communications Specialist will serve as a key member of the program, responsible for working closely with Peraton leadership, DOS leadership, and other business stakeholders to achieve program communications objectives of awareness, understanding, engagement, and action, as well as program management and administrative tasks.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop communications campaigns for the Department of State’s global audience, including materials to showcase new tools, services, and features. Develop materials, including briefings, presentations, operational notices, broadcasts, surveys, video scripts and recordings, demos, logos and graphics, and surveys.
  • Collaborate, collect input, create, edit, and manage content and stories for multiple program-wide and customer newsletters.
  • Research, write, and edit technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, technical and status reports, white papers, presentations, and other program deliverables. Collaborate with program subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, analysts, quality assurance specialists, and program managers.
  • Perform program administration support services for the Program Manager, including managing calendars, communications, travel coordination, and expense reports.
  • Collaborate with Peraton leadership and develop content for monthly All Hands meetings. Run meetings and develop ideas for team-building activities/events.
  • Assist in strategic planning and meeting facilitation. Develop and share customer meeting minutes.

 

Core Work Schedule: 8:00 AM ET - 4:00 PM ET (flexible), Monday - Friday.

 

Work Location: Must be local to Washington, DC area. This position is currently hybrid with remote work and up to 3 days per week in the Peraton office in Sterling, VA, and/or customer site in Washington, DC. The number of days in office is subject to change based on program or government requirements.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workloads across multiple teams.
  • Experience providing operational task support in a highly demanding environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and provide superior customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical or complex topics into user-friendly documentation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and formatting. Understanding of documentation standards (e.g., style guides, such as AP).

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft O365 and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Stream or other video-editing software.
  • Experience with knowledge-sharing tools such as SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira and ServiceNow.
  • Previous experience developing communications for executive-level seniors and for a federal agency.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle or systems engineering processes.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Ability to create graphics or visual aids using Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Education and Experience Requirements: 9 years with HS diploma; 7 years with AS; 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD.

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
