Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Database Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position is a telecommuter position.

 

The qualified candidate will join our team of experienced, motivated individuals in defining the future of Law Enforcement Data sharing and becoming a part of Peraton’s Law Enforcement Information Exchange (LInX) program.  The successful applicant will support LInX’s Engineering Database team and become a part of designing, developing, building, analyzing, evaluating, and installing database management systems.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and install database management systems to include database modeling design relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.
  • Using data mapping, data mining, and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop database.
  • Determine data storage and optimum storage requirements.
  • Prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses, and design throughout the database implementation.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or an Associates degree and 7 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • 5 years of work experience in Oracle database.
  • Strong knowledge in Oracle database development with ETL and data migration to develop data conversion scripts
  • Experience with creating Oracle functions, procedures and package bodies
  • Strong knowledge of SQL/PLSQL and database concepts
  • Strong knowledge of all phases of software development lifecycle and processes
  • Experience with software unit testing
  • Experience in creating and maintaining engineering documentation
  • Strong communication, writing, presentation, and organization skills
  • Strong software trouble-shooting skills
  • As part of the database team, develop, integrate, and migrate to a new database to include schemas, and stored procedures
  • Work in a fast paced continuous integration environment
  • Must work well in a team environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently resolve issues and deliver results

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Position prefers a candidate with a current Secret Clearance
  • Candidates who are knowledgeable in installing & patching Oracle 19 RDBMS software, database migration to newer hardware and database backup & recovery operations
  • Knowledge in Java/JDK
  • Able to apply engineering techniques and analytical methods to make recommendations for improvements
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging, small team environment as required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
