Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join our Chantilly, VA team in support of our Intelligence Community customer as part of a highly talented and mission-focused group. As part of the systems engineering team, you will support the NRO Mission Integration Lab, an R&D environment driving mission integration and user engagement. This position involves close collaboration with software engineers, security teams, and system administrators to automate, secure, and optimize software delivery pipelines and cloud infrastructure across multiple mission systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment of software applications in a secure and compliant manner
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to enable scalable, repeatable environments
  • Integrate security scanning and compliance checks into automated workflows to ensure software and infrastructure meet DoD and IC cybersecurity requirements
  • Collaborate with developers to containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments on platforms like Kubernetes or Amazon ECS
  • Manage, automate and monitor cloud-based environments, leveraging AWS services such as EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch for performance and reliability
  • Support configuration management, logging, and observability with tools like GitLab CI/CD, ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), and Prometheus/Grafana
  • Implement and maintain automated testing and code quality validation as part of DevSecOps pipelines
  • Work closely with system engineers and cybersecurity specialists to ensure secure baseline configurations and continuous authorization support
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, Masters degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of direct comparable experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree will be considered.
  • This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Proficiency with containerization technologies including Docker or Podman and orchestration using Kubernetes or ECS
  • Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS, including automated provisioning and scaling
  • Experience developing or maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with Python, Bash, or Groovy for automation scripting
  • Understanding of secure software supply chain practices, vulnerability scanning, and compliance automation
  • Possess certifications, training, and/or experience in compliance with DoD 8140 for position held, IAT Tier 2 (e.g. Security+)

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience integrating security tools such as SonarQube, Twistlock/Prisma Cloud, Anchore, or Snyk into DevSecOps pipelines
  • Experience supporting continuous monitoring and audit readiness for DoD or IC systems
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes and collaborative software delivery environments
  • Experience managing or tuning Elasticsearch clusters, Kibana dashboards, and log data mappings
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and secure enclave deployment architectures
  • Experience deploying serverless or microservice architectures in AWS such as Lambda or API Gateway

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
