About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Engineering Manager to support the First Responder Solutions program. This role serves as a hands-on technical leader responsible for driving delivery, quality, and operational performance across multiple engineering teams, including Viewpoint, Geo, and Mobility. The selected candidate will lead end-to-end execution from feature development through production, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with mission critical requirements supporting first responders.

 

This position requires a balance of technical leadership, project management discipline, and operational oversight to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining high engineering standards.

 

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Own end-to-end technical delivery across multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment with program objectives and stakeholder expectations
  • Oversee system design, development, testing, and deployment to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, code quality, and non-functional requirements
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, resource allocations, and budgets
  • Monitor execution against milestones, proactively managing risks, dependencies, and performance metrics
  • Lead resource planning, capacity modeling, and team utilization to optimize delivery outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff, fostering continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure transparency and alignment
  • Drive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle, including automation, efficiency, and quality metrics
  • Deliver regular status reporting, including progress, risks, and recommendations to program leadership
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and 10 years of experience, may have supervisory or lead experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must have experience leading technical teams or managing software engineering projects in an IT environment
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end delivery for software development efforts, including scope, schedule, execution, and quality
  • Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams or complex technical projects in a fast paced environment
  • Strong background in software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, or hybrid approaches
  • Experience with system architecture, application development, and production deployment practices
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning
  • Ability to track and analyze project performance, including estimated versus actual effort and delivery metrics
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or similar certification
  • Experience supporting public safety, first responder, or state and local government programs
  • Familiarity with geospatial systems, mobility platforms, or telecommunications technologies
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment, including compliance and structured program delivery
  • Technical background with modern development frameworks, cloud environments, and DevOps practices
  • Experience driving engineering process improvements, automation, and DevSecOps adoption
Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
