Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a DCC Lead to serve as the primary technical and strategic leader for the Digital Command Center (DCC) supporting the FAA’s BNATCS program. This role oversees enterprise data services, cloud architecture, cloud migration initiatives, data governance, and integration of modern cloud-native solutions that enhance the resiliency, scalability, and performance of the FAA’s national air traffic infrastructure.

 

As the DCC Lead, you will be responsible for driving technical vision, coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring alignment with FAA policies and security requirements, and delivering secure, compliant, and mission-critical data and cloud solutions.

 

To be successful in this role you should have a depth of experience driving requirements for data integration systems/initiatives, building prototypes, leading stakeholders to decisions, and have an understanding on how to resolve conflicting objectives and prioritize multiple urgent tasks.  Additionally, you should possess the ability to deliver tangible solutions in a very fast paced and dynamic environment, while being decisive, engaged, and highly communicative with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

 

This position will initially be on-site in Chantilly, VA and eventually move to a permanent location in Bethesda, MD. For this role you should be comfortable commuting to and working on-site out of both locations.

 

Key Responsibilities may include:

Leadership & Oversight

  • Serve as the technical authority for data integration/visualization initiatives within the BNATC contract.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including cloud engineers, data architects, DevSecOps engineers, and database administrators.
  • Provide strategic direction for data integration/visualization systems, data strategy, and program data management.
  • Collaborate closely with FAA stakeholders, program management, and technical teams to ensure solutions meet operational and policy requirements.
  • Oversee design, deployment, and optimization of solutions in AWS, Azure, ServiceNow.

Data Engineering & Governance

  • Lead enterprise data architecture, including data modeling, metadata management, data quality, and lineage tracking.
  • Implement robust data governance aligned with FAA and DOT policies.
  • Support development of centralized data services, APIs, and analytics platforms.
  • Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and compliance across systems.

Security & Compliance

  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to integrate SA&A, continuous monitoring, and security controls into architecture.
  • Ensure adherence to FAA, DOT, and federal security policies, including NIST 800-53 and Zero Trust standards.
  • Lead risk assessments and maintain documentation supporting compliance and audit readiness.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as primary DCC interface for FAA technical leads, program management, and external partners.
  • Prepare and present technical briefs, progress updates, and architectural recommendations.
  • Support proposal development, roadmap planning, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Interface as appropriate with Peraton Labs to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in system engineering, data architecture, or enterprise IT modernization.
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership role on federal or mission-critical programs.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud services and architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering, database systems, data warehouse/lakes and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience developing secure systems compliant with FedRAMP, NIST, and federal cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering complex data integration/visualization solutions.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a technical field.
  • Experience supporting FAA, DOT, or other transportation-related federal programs.
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, PMP, or CISSP.
  • Experience with Zero Trust, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and real-time data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of air traffic management systems and FAA enterprise architecture.
  • Experience developing and deploying Enterprise Data Platforms for federal agencies.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
