Program Overview
The program is an IDIQ contract for an AWS-based cloud hosting system. Currently, Peraton is supporting the Cloud Security, IoT, and AIML use cases for the environment in a hybrid work environment with Federal employees. Peraton also support the following applications as part of the environment: Dremio, Tableau, Globus, Posit/RStudio, Atlassian, ThingLogix, Alteryx and CloudCheckr.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Junior Business Analyst with experience in federal environmental systems to support requirements analysis and stakeholder coordination on behalf of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), part of the Department of the Interior, which manages fish, wildlife, and habitats across the United States, on a federal data integration program. You will work closely with the FWS BA SME to document workflows, develop user stories, and support approval tracking activities.

The Department of the Interior (DOI), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) have identified a critical gap in the federal government's ability to conduct comprehensive Endangered Species Act (ESA) research. While FWS operates an authoritative web-based platform for managing data for terrestrial and freshwater species, it does not currently include NMFS marine and anadromous species data forcing agencies to rely on separate, manual processes. This program closes that gap by integrating marine and anadromous species data into the existing FWS platform, creating a single, unified experience for all ESA-listed species.

Work Location: Remote

 Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Support the FWS BA SME in documenting current-state FWS consultation workflows, decision logic structures, and template formats.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of existing platform decision logic to identify all updates required for NOAA Fisheries species integration.
  • Document FWS-specific user stories and acceptance criteria for UI updates, logic changes, and template modifications.
  • Assist in facilitating FWS ES requirements workshops and capturing meeting notes, decisions, and action items.
  • Support the development of pilot consultation scenarios for FWS-side consultation types.
  • Assist in tracking FWS ES review and approval activities for deliverables requiring FWS sign-off.
  • Support the development of FWS-facing training materials and job aids.
  • Maintain traceability matrices linking FWS requirements to implemented features and test cases.
  • Assist in compiling FWS-specific content for progress reports and the year-end final report.
