About The Role
Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Junior Systems Engineer for its' Federal Strategic Cyber program.
Location: Washington, DC
In this role, you will:
- Support the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems across the program’s infrastructure.
- Possess hands‑on experience working in Linux environments along with practical familiarity using OpenWRT‑based systems.
- Apply strong technical problem‑solving skills and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems and network devices.
- Support troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for system issues.
- Implement updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Maintain documentation and configuration records.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on technical tasks and project deliverables.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, IT operations, or a related technical field. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelors degree.
- Proficiency with Linux (administration, command‑line operations, configuration).
- Working familiarity with OpenWRT (router firmware, configuration, network setup, package management).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with scripting (Bash, Python).
- Exposure to embedded systems or network appliances.
- Familiarity with Git or other version‑control tools.
Details
Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
