Program Overview
Provide critical communications and tracking for multiple spacecraft from three complexes located globally, and operates year round 24 hours/7days to provide continuous contact with the spacecraft. The program fulfills NASA goals by supporting NASA deep space mission set, including NASA-funded missions and collaborative international missions.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking an On-call Kitchen Worker to support NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN) at Fort Irwin, CA. This position assists kitchen staff with food preparation, sanitation, and general duties to ensure smooth operations during peak periods, special events, or staff absences.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support food preparation, handling, and storage in compliance with HACCP standards under the Lead Cook’s supervision.

  • Operate kitchen equipment (dishwasher, coffee/tea machines, cash register) and maintain cleanliness of dining areas and workstations.

  • Restock supplies, condiments, and paperware; deliver food orders to departments across the complex.

  • Perform routine cleaning of kitchen surfaces, floors, fridges, hoods, and steam lines.

  • Assist with recordkeeping, filing, and basic administrative tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and workplace cleanliness.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen environment
  • Must have experience with basic maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Must have the flexibility to work on short notice
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Must have a Food Handlers Card
  • Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. 
  • Must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID).

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
