About The Role

Ready to make an impact? Peraton is seeking a Lead Field Support Technician (Network Engineer) to support operations, maintenance, and sustainment activities under the Eastern/Western Range Operational Communications Services (EWOCS) contract at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

 

This role supports mission-critical security systems operating within secure, closed-network environments. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of leadership and hands-on experience with low voltage, system administration, and engineering experience supporting operational infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a technical team to provide support for the 30th and the 45th SW
  • Validate weekly and monthly routine tasks are completed and documented
  • Provide standardized training to team members for all shop tasks
  • Provide status updates to Peraton, the Prime contractor, and Government Customer through official ticketing systems, meetings, and weekly and monthly reports
  • Coordinate work schedules for all team members and ensure 100% task coverage
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot mission-critical systems supporting launch operations and range communications
  • Support closed/air-gapped network environments, ensuring system availability and performance
  • Support and troubleshoot security systems, including:
    • Bosch/Radionics Intrusion Detection Systems
    • C-Cure and Lenel Access Control Systems
    • Analog and IP Surveillance Systems
  • Identify and resolve system, network, and power issues using diagnostic tools and test equipment
  • Support operational readiness in a high-availability, mission-focused environment
  • Execute hardware installations and field engineering tasks, including rack integration, cabling, and system deployments
  • Implement system modifications and upgrades in response to customer needs
  • Perform system engineering tasks including:
    • System documentation and configuration management
    • Solution replacement/upgrade recommendation
  • Perform systems administration tasks including:
    • User account management and access control
    • Software installation and patching
    • Backup and recovery operations
  • Support Public Address events
    • Setup portable equipment including microphones, mixers, speakers, bluetooth receivers
    • Coordinate with customers to support various events
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Technology or related field and 2+ years of experience. An additional four (4) Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in systems administration, network support, or infrastructure support within a DoD or mission-critical environment
  • Experience supporting secure or closed network environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Windows operating systems
    • Client-server environments
    • Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, switching, routing fundamentals)
  • Experience performing hardware installations, cabling, or field support activities
  • Must be able to support non-traditional work hours to support specific events and on-call

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Physical security systems (access control, analog and IP CCTV, and intrusion detection)
    • EITAAS Ticketing system
  • Experience working in geographically distributed engineering environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across low voltage systems, networks, and infrastructure components
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading teams
Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
