Program Overview
Enterprise analysis, software tools, and data services to support quantitative reporting and analytical solutions, helping to deliver high-quality data for the customer. Also develops and maintains key data sets, documentation, and analytical tools while offering flexible support for financial and analytical data needs.
About The Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, reliability, and evolution of enterprise infrastructure services under the SEC’s Infrastructure Support Services (ISS) program. In this role, you will partner closely with the Infrastructure Manager and other technical leads to guide day-to-day infrastructure operations, coordinate engineering activities, and ensure services align with SEC OIT standards and mission requirements.

 

This program provides comprehensive enterprise IT services in support of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Office of Information Technology (OIT). Services include customer service and infrastructure support across SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C., regional offices, data centers, and cloud environments. The mission is to deliver exceptional customer service through modern, industry-leading IT capabilities that strengthen confidence in SEC technology operations.

 

What will you do:

 

  • Oversee day-to-day data center operations, including server hardware management, capacity planning, and coordination of planned maintenance activities.
  • Manage and optimize enterprise storage platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and resiliency across NetApp and related solutions.
  • Support and evolve cloud infrastructure by coordinating engineering activities across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure reliable delivery of Microsoft Online Services, including M365, Exchange Online, Teams, and other enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Lead server management activities, including configuration, provisioning, performance tuning, lifecycle planning, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Manage and optimize virtualization and container platforms, including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and OpenShift, to deliver stable, high-performance compute services.
  • Oversee patching, update, and release management processes to maintain security compliance, system stability, and alignment with SEC OIT policies.
  • Maintain and enhance application and infrastructure monitoring capabilities to proactively identify issues and improve service performance.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager and peer technical leads to plan and execute infrastructure improvements, resolve cross-domain issues, ensure SLA compliance, and support SEC mission needs.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience OR 12 years of experience with a HS Degree/Diploma.
  • 8+ years of progressive, hands-on experience engineering, administering, and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including servers, storage, data centers, and cloud platforms.
  • 5+ years supporting or leading infrastructure operations for large-scale federal or enterprise environments (5,000+ end users, multi-site).
  • Demonstrated experience with data center operations, HPE (or equivalent) server platforms, enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp), and hybrid AWS/Azure cloud environments.
  • Proven expertise in server management, patching, configuration baselines, release management, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with federal security and compliance standards.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Online Services, including M365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and identity/integration with Azure AD.
  • Strong familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, or Datadog, and performance/availability management practices.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL / ITSM processes, including incident, change, problem, and configuration management in a federal environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams, program leadership, and federal customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at SEC Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
