About The Role

Peraton is delivering advanced mission planning, digital engineering, and command‑and‑control capabilities supporting the U.S. Government’s space communications enterprise. Our team uses modern MBSE practices to translate mission needs into precise, traceable, and verifiable technical requirements across a complex, multi‑system environment.

 

As a Mid-level Full Stack Software Engineer - SATCOM, you will support the design and development of platform services that enable secure, scalable, and reliable satellite ground communications and data‑transport capabilities. You will contribute to frontend and backend components, participate in technical discussions, and help ensure software solutions align with system requirements and program objectives. In this role, you will work with cross‑functional engineering teams to implement features, resolve issues, and support ongoing platform integration.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Develop backend services in Python, including APIs, automation logic, and service‑level components.
  • Build and maintain PostgreSQL database structures such as SQL queries, triggers, and stored functions.
  • Implement microservices and security mechanisms including OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
  • Contribute to frontend development activities using TypeScript and modern component‑based web frameworks.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, and iterative delivery.
  • Support investigation and resolution of production issues using structured troubleshooting practices.
  • Use Git‑based version control systems and collaborate with engineering teams on code review processes.
  • Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm to support containerized application deployment.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum Secret clearance. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Proficient in Python software development for backend applications.
  • Experience in PostgreSQL database design and development, including SQL queries, triggers, and stored functions.
  • Experience in microservice architecture and security mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
  • Experience supporting frontend development using TypeScript and modern UI frameworks.
  • Experience with Git‑based source control systems, including GitHub or GitLab.
  • Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and software development practices.
  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Working knowledge of message‑driven or event‑driven software development concepts.
  • Working knowledge of RBAC and ABAC access‑control techniques.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience investigating and helping resolve issues in production or operational environments.
  • Experience contributing to integration activities with customers or partners.
  • Experience collaborating with MBSE or test engineering teams.
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and frameworks to support evolving project needs.

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
