Program Overview
Comprised of social scientists, PhD-level researchers, and data scientists that bring a multidisciplinary approach to solving challenging applied research questions, this program sustains research to shape the face of personnel security and suitability for the DoD, IC, and federal goverment at large.
About The Role

Peraton is currently seeking a Part-time/On-call Editor to provide support for research and training course development projects in support of DoD customers. 

 

Approximately 10-15 hours/week.

 

Location: Remote work allowed 100%.

 

In this role, you will provide editing support in an applied government setting, working closely with behavioral and social science researchers and training development teams.

 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supporting behavioral science and social science research projects for the Department of Defense.
  • Edit work products including course presentations, training materials, outlines, reports, grant/contract proposals, and research papers throughout their development.
  • General Editorial Responsibilities
    • Correcting errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax.
    • Ensuring all materials adhere to specific organizational, industry, or academic style guides.
    • Maintaining a consistent voice and professional tone across different platforms or sections of a document.
    • Verifying the accuracy of dates, figures, names, and cited facts to uphold the credibility of the information.
    • Providing constructive feedback and working with writers or subject matter experts (SMEs) to refine content and resolve discrepancies.
  • Course presentations, Training materials
    • Ensuring content matches defined learning goals and meets the target audience's reading level.
    • Simplifying complex concepts and ensuring instructions for interactive elements are clear and logical.
    • Verifying that images, videos, and graphics are relevant, high-quality, and support the on-screen text or voice-over script.
    • Checking that all links, menu items, and interface elements work as expected in digital formats.
  • Work cooperatively with team members to ensure quality, timeliness, and accuracy of research products.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or PhD and 3 years of relevant experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing constructive, tactful feedback to authors and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to manage multiple documents under tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Meticulousness in catching inconsistencies in formatting, citations, and terminology.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • The ability to obtain/hold a Secret security clearance.

Preferred:

 

  • Advanced degree in a Behavioral or Social Science field such as Psychology, Sociology, or Criminal Justice.
  • Mastery of major guides such as APA.
  • Experience reviewing/editing course material.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or Position of Public Trust Background Investigation.

 

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
