Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA’s Business, National Airspace, and Technical Computing Services (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation’s skies safe and connected. We’re looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world’s most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.
At Peraton, you won’t just support the mission — you’ll define it.
Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a Performance & Load Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will lead performance, scalability, and reliability testing oversight, ensuring that deployed systems meet FAA operational demands and maintain high availability under load. This role offers the opportunity to directly influence the quality and resilience of critical aviation systems that millions of passengers and airline operators rely on every day. Whether you’re supporting safety validation efforts or leading teams on major FAA programs, your work will directly impact the millions of passengers and aviation professionals who rely on safe, efficient airspace operations every day.
In this position, you will:
Lead performance, scalability, and load testing for FAA modernization systems.
Develop test strategies, plans, and scripts to validate system reliability under peak operational conditions.
Oversee execution of load and stress tests, analyzing results to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
Collaborate with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues and improve system efficiency.
Establish and maintain performance benchmarks and KPIs to ensure consistent quality standards.
Provide detailed reports and recommendations to stakeholders on system readiness and performance improvements.
Support capacity planning and forecasting to prepare for future scalability demands.
Champion best practices for performance engineering across the organization.
Why This Role Matters
The FAA’s systems operate at a scale and complexity unlike any other. Downtime or degraded performance can disrupt national air travel, compromise safety, and impact commerce on a massive scale. Your work will directly safeguard the reliability of the nation’s airspace systems, supporting the FAA’s mission to provide safe, efficient, and predictable air traffic management.
Basic Qualifications:
Proficiency with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
Knowledge of FAA operational standards and performance requirements.
Certifications such as ISTQB Performance Testing, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or similar.
Background in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with integrated performance testing.
