Senior Solution Architect

Peraton is looking for a hands-on technical Senior Solutions Architect to design, implement and manage scalable, secure and high-performance cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role blends architecture, leadership and active coding. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact cloud solutions that are secure and reliable. You will collaborate with development teams, business stakeholders and operations to drive cloud adoption and innovation. You’ll help set technical direction, lead architecture discussions, work closely with engineers to uplift coding practices, provide mentorship and hands-on development. This is a leadership role requiring expert level AWS knowledge, system design experience and the ability to influence engineering culture and cloud strategy.

What you will do:

• Proven hand-on experience developing enterprise and comprehensive technical and management solutions
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure and reliable cloud solutions
• Guide teams on cloud best practices, including security, cost optimization and performance
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and Dev Ops to design robust technical solutions
• Develop automation for log, metrics and trace collection across distributed systems
• Design, develop and maintain automated playbooks for provisioning, configuration, deployment, incident response and recovery tasks
• Write and maintain production-quality, reusable Terraform code to provision infrastructure on AWS
• Troubleshoot complex system issues across applications and services
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns and best practices and facilitate regular knowledge-sharing sessions
• Technical mentor to mid-level engineers. Lead technical planning, code quality initiatives and system reviews
• Continuous development of new skills and learnings to keep pace with emerging technology innovations
• Define and document the best practices and strategies for Cloud and Applications Services offerings
• Communicate technical topics to management, peers, customers, and non-technical audiences
• Contribute to cloud governance, policies and reusable templated/modules

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS and 8+ years of experience in architecture, infrastructure engineering or cloud architecture. Additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
• 4+ years of deep, hands-on experience with AWS architecture and operations
• Expertise in core AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, RDS, IAM, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, Route53, etc
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Bash
• Expert in infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools: Terraform
• Proficient with CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration
• Excellent problem-solving skills and communication skills
• Passion and talent for mentorship and leadership through influence
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agnecy clearance

• Active Public Trust is a plus 
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional strongly preferred
