Program Overview
Cybersecurity experts, Scrum and Agile professionals and engineers (systems, software, network, and cloud reliability) design and sustain cloud infrastructure to host spacecraft command and control systems. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Antenna as a Service (AaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), and an active Admin Wide Area Network (AWAN) team are provided.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Senior Information Assurance Security Officer (Sr. ISSO) to support our Department of Defense customer as part of a highly motivated and technically skilled team. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of raising enterprise compliance levels, driving RMF accreditations, implementing defensive cyber operations, and guiding large research, operational, and national-level programs through rapid threat evolution. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide cybersecurity and information assurance support within cloud, hybrid, and traditional infrastructure environments 
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide security strategies and RMF documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms, SCTMs, ConMon plans) to support system authorization and accreditation 
  • Lead RMF accreditation and ATO renewal efforts, adjudicate POA&Ms, and prepare risk acceptance recommendations for senior leadership 
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, interpret scan results, integrate vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and defensive operations data to drive continuous monitoring and risk reduction. 
  • Support security control implementation and assessment, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53, JSIG, ICD 503, and CNSSI 1253 frameworks 
  • Lead dashboard and analytical products development that visualize risk posture and compliance metrics across systems and networks. 
  • Partner with technical development teams to ensure secure design, secure coding, and secure deployment of applications and analytic platforms 
  • Lead or participate in technical exchanges with partner organizations and external assessors to ensure alignment with DoD and IC cybersecurity policy 
  • Communicate complex cybersecurity issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; OR bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; OR a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field. Additional Four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree 
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Advanced DoD 8140.03 certification (e.g. CISSP, CISSP-ISSEP/ISSAP, CISM, CASP+, CCSP, or equivalent). 
  • You have 6+ years of experience leading RMF/ATO lifecycles, including SSP development, SCA coordination, POA&M remediation, and Continuous Monitoring execution. 
  • Strong understanding of NIST 800-53, JSIG, ICD 503, CNSSI 1253, and DoDI 8510.01 policy frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with Linux command-line and Windows automation (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) for configuration, auditing, and compliance management. 
  • Proven ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and provide risk analysis, documentation, and mitigation recommendations. 
  • Excellent technically focused written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing leadership and authoring technical documentation. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and prioritize multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision. 
  • Develop technical and operational standards, security documentation to include policies and procedures. 
  • Mentor junior cybersecurity staff and contribute to process improvement, policy development, and audit readiness 
  • Familiar with data analytics and using dashboards or visualization tools for cyber risk reporting. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Foundational understanding of modern cloud and orchestration technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, OpenStack, Kubernetes). Practical experience preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience supporting Insider Threat, Counterintelligence, or Cyber Defense operations. 
  • Proven track record of building and automating enterprise security processes. 
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to translate complex IA concepts into actionable technical tasks. 
  • Understanding the implementation of security controls, applying STIG hardening, and supporting system authorization packages.

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
