Program Overview
Program management, engineering, and technical support for the Air Systems Group, focusing on research, systems engineering, and evaluation of naval air propulsion and power systems. Focus includes air-breathing engines, auxiliary power systems, helicopter transmissions, fuel systems, and propulsion system performance, supported by roles like data scientists, engineers, and chemists.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a computer science/engineer to provide 100% remote support for software system safety support to our NAVAIR customer in Lakehurst, NJ and Patuxent River, MD.  This position is in the System Safety/Reliability & Maintainability Branch.

 

What you will do…

  • Conduct software system safety hazard analysis and assessments of assigned NAVAIR aviation and weapons systems
  • Identify assigned program's software system safety hazards and risks, recommending risk priority, and providing recommendations to mitigate or remove the risk area
  • Support the System Safety Risk Assessment process with technical analysis validating the risk level, including providing software safety related information and analysis, identifying and assessing root-cause, and evaluating recommended actions
  • Analyze NAVAIR software system designs using methods identified in system safety standards (e.g. MIL-STD-882E, Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook
  • Provide recommendations on software architecture, development, and design to reduce hazard risk.
  • Document results of analysis and recommendations in safety assessment reports
  • Coordinate review of analysis and recommendations with NAVAIR technical area experts
Qualifications

 

 

What you will need:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree or in Engineering or Computer Science advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science and 6+ years of professional experience of progressively more responsible work
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience required in systems engineering and/or software development in aviation, space, and/or weapons systems
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Software System Safety including: identifying software system safety hazards and risks, recommending risk priority, and providing recommendations to mitigate or remove the risk area
  • Secret security clearance

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
