About The Role
Peraton is currently seeking skilled and qualified candidates for their Backup Systems Engineer position on the DOL ITOM program. Using a holistic approach, this position designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Provision/Configure required backups for Unix and Window servers and ensure successful backups are always available
- Upgrade/Patch Commvault software
- Monitor and correct critical backup issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks and configure alerts for proactive response times
- Ensure successful backups and perform system restores
- Perform systems operation support, including storage and server system administration, general troubleshooting, and troubleshooting of complex engineering issues for hardware, software, and network components.
- Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution in support of customer requirements.
- Supports backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity team
- Create technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and plans
- Evaluate, improve, and maintain the information security throughout the backup infrastructure
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability to include verification of the replication of data, fail over copies, redundant data sets
- Respond quickly and effectively to backup issues and outages
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years experience, master's degree with 6+ years experience or high school diploma/equivalent with 12+ years experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
- Experience in Commvault Backup Solutions
- Experience in AWS Backup
- Experience with Server virtualization, VMWare
- Understanding of Windows Services and Servers, NetApp
- Advanced Troubleshooting to support Windows Servers and Azure Cloud Environments.
- System monitoring using installed tools as well as external tools
- Experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining virtual and cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive Commvault experience
- MCSE certification, VMWare, NetApp, or Azure certifications
- Network knowledge and experience
- Working knowledge of NetApp and other storage devices
- ITSM knowledge and experience, particularly with ServiceNow
- PowerShell Scripting experience

Details
Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
