Program Overview
Peraton provides the customer with enterprise infrastructure support to plan, engineer, implement, enhance, maintain and operate the global consular affairs IT environment.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer (Automation) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications services globally. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement Automation using Ansible and other tools for modernized and legacy systems, infrastructure, and services leveraged by CA applications. 
  • Participate in daily Automation scrums in support of active work items.
  • Support Automation workflow process to include review of automation requests, evaluation of Technical Review Board items, and tracking automation progress. 
  • Work closely with the Automation Team members and other engineers across the CAEIO program.
  • Provide detailed documentation of completed work to Automation Team members.
  • Leverage IBM Jazz (or Jira) tool to track all automation features, stories, and tasks. 
  • Work with other CA organizations to effectively design/integrate/test/deploy automation capabilities into production, pre-production, and CI/CD environments.
  • Ensure all automation configuration changes follow approved change management processes and security configuration guidelines. 
  • Support Government customer ad hoc tasks and data calls.

Core Work Schedule: First shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM ET - 4:00 PM ET

 

Work Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA, or Washington, DC. The number of days in office is subject to change based on program or government requirements.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • Hands-on experience performing automation development, test, integration, and deployment.
  • 2+ years’ hands-on experience with Ansible.  
  • 2+ years’ hands-on experience with Red Hat and/or Oracle Linux.
  • Experience working with system owners to identify automation requirements, design/develop solutions, and integrate in production and pre-production environments. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in high tempo environment.

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience automating solutions with high availability, disaster recovery, and in accordance with RMF and DoD STIGs or DS Security Guides.
  • Experience with networking platforms, Oracle databases, virtual infrastructure, containerized environments.
  • Industry relevant certifications in Linux, Automation Tools or Security.
  • Experience with Department of State. 

Education: Minimum 9 years of experience with HS diploma; Minimum 7 years with AS; Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
