The administrator will be responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining the operating system and related software. This role establishes and implements standards for computer operations to ensure compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to ensure the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. Upgrades and Maintenance: Recommend hardware and software upgrades based on growth statistics. Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments.

Monitoring and Performance: Monitor log files and system performance to identify and resolve software, operating system, and networking problems in mission-critical systems.

Backups and Recovery: Schedule, perform, and monitor system backups and, when necessary, perform data recoveries.

Hardware Configuration: Configure hardware, such as workstations, printers, servers, and tape devices.

Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely support for UNIX/Linux-related issues and provide general technical support for system users.

Security Compliance: Follow standard operating procedures to maintain and enhance the security posture of the environment, including adherence to the DISA STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) process.

Task Automation: Schedule tasks using software support tools and scripts.

Collaboration & Prioritization: Work both independently and as part of a team to achieve organizational goals, effectively setting priorities and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.
