About The Role

 

Peraton is seeking Web Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future of technology and public health.  This position will become part of Peraton’s team that supports the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. They will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing high-visibility, user-focused websites that support mission-critical initiatives. This role emphasizes front-end development, accessibility compliance, performance optimization, SEO-driven architecture, and content usability, with a strong focus on standards-compliant, maintainable, and scalable solutions. The Web Developer collaborates closely with content owners, subject matter experts, designers, and IT teams to deliver accessible, intuitive, and accurate digital experiences for diverse audiences.

 

What you will do: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-traffic websites using HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, JSON, and CMS platforms.
  • Lead front-end development activities, including site architecture, coding, optimization, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Ensure full compliance with Section 508, WCAG, W3C, and federal web standards through regular review, remediation, and quality assurance.
  • Implement SEO best practices, metadata standards, and information architecture to improve discoverability, usability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with content owners, subject matter experts, and communications teams to translate complex information into clear, accessible, user-friendly content, including bilingual (English/Spanish) materials.
  • Maintain and enhance multilingual websites, ensuring consistency, reusability, and centralized styling across sites.
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure compatibility, performance, and accessibility.
  • Develop and maintain reusable templates, modules, includes, and structured content to support long-term maintainability.
  • Optimize website performance, monitor analytics, and recommend improvements based on user behavior and performance metrics.
  • Provide guidance on content strategy, usability, and information architecture to support evolving program needs.
  • Mentor and support onboarding of new team members, promoting adherence to development standards and best practices.
  • Support all phases of the web development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Introduce new technologies, automate repetitive tasks, and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure content accuracy, scientific credibility, and alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience OR 12 years of experience and a HS Diploma/Degree.
  • 8 years of professional web development experience, with a strong focus on front-end technologies and content management for high traffic, content heavy websites
  • Demonstrated expertise in accessible, standards-compliant web development
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand and apply Section 508 accessibility requirements and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques
  • Experience with development, design and asset tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively engage with executive level clients
  • Strong attention to detail with proven ability to work under tight and shifting deadlines/priorities
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Problem solving, solution oriented, consultative mindset
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time and prioritize work to client satisfaction
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience developing and maintaining high-visibility, public-facing websites for federal or public health organizations
  • Proven ability to manage multilingual and international web content
  • Strong background in usability, accessibility remediation, and quality assurance
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
