Program Overview
Engineering modernization and integration practices to include Digital Engineering and Agile at Scale for all of NGA, NSG, and ASG.
About The Role

The DoD AI Program Office leads the integration of AI capabilities into the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG). The Senior MS&A Engineer leads and executes advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) initiatives to support NGA business stakeholders, analysts, and warfighters. This role is central to defining and evaluating system and data requirements that drive timely, accurate, and actionable GEOINT. The position provides high-level technical advisory support focused on identifying capability gaps, emerging technologies, and innovative agile methodologies—particularly in the verification and assurance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models. This position plays a key role in shaping the future of AI-enabled GEOINT capabilities, ensuring that NGA and its partners maintain technological superiority through trusted, verified, and mission-ready AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct AI and ML Gap Analysis:
Lead assessments and develop methodologies to evaluate the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for the future of warfare. Identify the defense and security domains—such as intelligence analysis, command and control, targeting, autonomous systems, information operations, training, and simulation—where AI capabilities offer the greatest operational impact.
  • Perform Advanced Analytical Studies:
Develop and lead Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Design of Experiments (DoE), Courses of Action (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Provide Strategic Technical Support:
Assist the Government with strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design to ensure the effective integration of innovative technologies into operational systems.
  • Requirements and Architecture Analysis:
Support the planning and analysis of user and system requirements, ensuring traceability across architectures, procedures, and workflows. Identify opportunities to automate or enhance existing systems through improved cloud services, workflow optimization, and scheduling.
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis:
Apply both quantitative and qualitative methods to develop sound metrics that build confidence in AI model assurance, performance, and trustworthiness.
  • Advance AI Assurance Capabilities:
Support the development of a robust foundation for AI Assurance, including formal methods for Trusted and Trustworthy eXplainable AI (XAI) and Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) for AI systems. Contribute to the advancement of T&E/V&V-as-a-Service concepts that ensure transparency and reliability in AI-enabled operations.
  • Collaborate Across the Enterprise:
Work with senior leaders, scientists, and engineers across NGA, the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), the Intelligence Community (IC), Allied System for Geospatial Intelligence (ASG), and U.S. Government partners. Drive coordination and execution of enterprise AI strategies and goals—particularly in Verified AI (IV&V) and Explainable AI (XAI).
