About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Computer Systems Engineer to serve as the senior Imaging Engineer/Architect to manage the end-to-end imaging and deployment lifecycle utilizing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Intune, and AutoPilot for the Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (HHS-OIG) environment. The Senior Engineer/Architect will also lead a successful migration of existing MECM image deployment processes to AutoPilot image deployment without disruption to ongoing operations and continue managing and supporting the Imaging process in an enterprise-level environment, supporting the Information Technology Service Desk and Engineering Support program for a Contract at U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

 

Peraton provides maintenance and operational IT support that includes engineering services for the systems, equipment, hardware, and software. This engineer/architect will serve as a key member of the Tier 3 team while also leading the processes that ensure efficient management of a standardized image deployment workflow to provision new devices with consistent configurations, settings, and applications. The position will require thought leadership, hands-on support, and direction of other Engineering staff in the day-to-day management and administration of the HHS-OIG Imaging process with a goal of continuous process improvement to streamline the deployment process to improve the end user experience, among other duties.

 

Responsibilities:

The Computer Systems Engineer will provide thought leadership and initiative to drive consistent performance and timely improvements to the imaging and deployment process. You will be joining a forward-thinking, innovative team that is responsible for building and overseeing public and private servers and network infrastructure in a way that supports key business objectives.

  • Successfully migrate existing MECM image deployment processes to Autopilot image deployment without disruption of ongoing operations, managing a smooth and seamless transition with minimal impact on end-users and IT workflows.
  • Implement standardized image deployment workflows using Autopilot to provision new devices with consistent configurations, settings, and applications.
  • Ensure that deployed images meet organizational standards and compliance requirements.
  • Simplify and streamline the deployment process by leveraging Autopilot's self- service capabilities and cloud-based provisioning.
    • Reduce the need for manual intervention and onsite imaging, enabling faster device deployment and reduced IT overhead.
  • Improve the end-user experience by providing a more seamless and personalized onboarding process for new devices.
    • Utilize Autopilot's user-driven enrollment options and customization features to tailor the deployment experience to individual user preferences.
  • Strengthen device security and compliance by enforcing policies and configurations during Autopilot image deployment. Implement security features such as device encryption, conditional access, and compliance checks to mitigate security risks.
  • Utilize Intune as the central management platform for Autopilot image deployment, allowing for unified management of devices and configurations across the organization. Ensure that all deployed devices are consistently managed and monitored from a single console.
  • Take advantage of the scalability and flexibility offered by Autopilot and Intune to support organizational growth and changing business needs.
    • Scale deployment processes efficiently to accommodate varying device volumes and deployment scenarios.
  • Expedite the deployment of new devices by automating provisioning tasks and eliminating manual imaging processes.
    • Reduce the time required to onboard new devices, allowing end-users to access corporate resources more quickly.
  • Leverage reporting and monitoring capabilities in Intune to track deployment progress, monitor device compliance, and identify any deployment issues or challenges.
    • Generate actionable insights to optimize deployment processes and address any issues promptly.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize Autopilot image deployment workflows to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction.
    • Stay informed about new features and updates in Autopilot and Intune to leverage the latest capabilities for ongoing improvement.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including methods of procedure, SOPs, and technical diagrams.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s; 3 years of experience with Masters.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)/System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM); Configuring and managing MECM/SCCM as related to imaging.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Autopilot for deploying and provisioning Windows devices, including configuring Autopilot profiles, enrollment processes, and deployment automation. (Including both hybrid and Microsoft Entra joined scenarios)
  • Administering and supporting a “co- management” environment that allows use of both Configuration Manager and Intune.
  • Intune admin experience related to policy management, device enrollment, application management, and profile configuration.
  • In-depth understanding of Windows operating systems including Windows 10 and Windows 11, and experience with deployment methods, customization options, and compatibility considerations.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell to support deployments or application tasks where greater customization or automation is needed.
  • Experience in creating, customizing, and maintaining Windows images for deployment using MECM/SCCM, including driver injection, software integration and imaging optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the imaging and deployment process, ensuring that all devices and systems are configured and function properly.
  • Design, develop, implement, and manage the end-to-end imaging and deployment lifecycle using:
    • Auto Pilot/Intune
    • MECM
    • Imaging
    • MS Entra/AD
    • Co-Management
    • Intune admin Policy Management/ Application management, device enrollment.
    • PowerShell scripting
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the willingness to collaborate with cross-functional departments and teams.
  • Must have an active Public Trust Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Washington, DC for in office days.

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
