About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Director of Emerging Architecture to serve as a technical leader within the Federal Civilian CTO organization. This role combines direct pursuit responsibility on the most large, complex, and strategic opportunities ($75M–$1B+ TCV) with a broader mandate to shape how the sector applies emerging technology across pursuits, delivery, and practice development.

The Director will partner with Capture Managers, Proposal Managers, Business Development, Subject Matter Experts, Peraton Labs, and executive leadership to develop innovative, mission-focused solutions that align with customer missions, technical requirements, and strategic objectives. Beyond individual pursuits, the Director will lead the sector's technology council, drive emerging-technology adoption across the Lead Solution Architect community and develop reusable architecture patterns and reference designs that scale across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines deep enterprise architecture experience across cloud, cybersecurity, application modernization, data analytics, artificial intelligence, IT operations, and managed services environments with the ability to identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies into winning federal civilian solutions.

Work Location: Reston, Virginia. Flexibility with travel to customer sites as needed.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop forward-looking architectures with evolutionary pathways for emerging technologies and translate them into pursuit-ready patterns.
  • Lead the Federal Civilian Technology Council, setting the agenda and driving working outputs including reference architectures, decision frameworks, and technology position whitepapers.
  • Evaluate Peraton Labs capabilities and partner technologies for inclusion in solutions; develop reusable frameworks, reference architectures, and solution accelerators that scale across the technical community.
  • Mentor Principal, Senior, and Mid-level Solution Architects; establish technical review standards that elevate the practice, and partner with other directors on productization pathways emerging from pursuit work.
  • Own and oversee solution architecture on large strategic federal civilian pursuits ($75M–$1B+), from capture through proposal submission as needed.
  • Design enterprise architectures spanning cloud, application modernization, cybersecurity, data, AI, IT operations, and managed services tailored to customer missions.
  • Author and review technical proposal volumes - ensuring content is compelling, compliant, and discriminating against evaluation criteria.
  • Conduct competitive technical analysis and articulate discriminators that create measurable separation from competitors.
  • Develop deep understanding of assigned customer missions, technology environments, and strategic direction; engage directly with federal customers as a trusted advisor.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 16 years of experience, may have management experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

  • Demonstrated architecture experience across at least four domains: cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI), app modernization, cybersecurity/zero trust, data/AI-ML, IT ops, DevSecOps, enterprise platforms, etc.
  • Proven track record winning large competitive proposals - translating complex requirements into deliverable, discriminating solutions.
  • Experience presenting architectures to executive leadership, gate review panels, and federal customers including oral presentations.
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes, evaluation methodologies, and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, CMMC).
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
