About The Role

The Junior Test Systems Engineer supports application, system, and integration testing efforts across the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and federal agency partners. This role contributes to ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-quality GEOINT systems through structured testing, defect analysis, and collaboration within modern DevOps environments.

This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow within a mission-driven program, gaining exposure to enterprise-level systems, automated testing frameworks, and cutting-edge development practices.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Support application, system, and integration testing activities across complex GEOINT environments
  • Execute manual and automated test scripts to validate system functionality and performance
  • Perform API and application testing within DevOps pipelines using established QA standards and best practices
  • Assist in independent integration testing of software and hardware to ensure compliance with requirements

Defect Analysis & Support

  • Identify, document, and support resolution of defects discovered during testing
  • Contribute to technical investigations and root cause analysis

Collaboration & Process Support

  • Work closely with developers, engineers, and testers to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle
  • Support NGA Test Organization (NTO) activities and testing initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is best suited for a detail-oriented, technically curious early-career professional who is eager to build hands-on experience in testing and quality engineering. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in collaborative, fast-paced DevOps environments and is motivated to contribute to mission-critical systems supporting national security.

 

Location: This position is fully onsite in Springfield, VA

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, MIS, related STEM field or an additional 4 years equivalent junior-level experience in lieu of degree
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly.

Core Skills

  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools
  • Familiarity with Agile, traditional, and DevOps development environments and testing strategies

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with multiple tools/technologies such as: JMeter, Jenkins, Docker, Postman, Swagger, Nexus, Apigee, GitHub/GitLab
  • Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, Bash, SQL, XML, JSON, Curl)
  • Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS or C2S
  • Basic understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Familiarity with software development frameworks

 

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
