About The Role

Peraton is currently seeking a highly an experienced Software Engineer to join our team in Quantico, VA.

Role and Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate brings strong full‑stack development experience, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission‑focused environment. This role requires someone who communicates effectively, maintains high standards of code quality, and demonstrates an ownership mindset—taking features from concept to delivery and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full‑stack applications in a secure environment.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
  • Develop front‑end applications using React and integrate with backend APIs.
  • Ensure code quality through linting, formatting, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Write maintainable, testable code and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into wireframes and user flows.
  • Utilize Docker for local development and deployments.
  • Work in AWS cloud environments and implement best practices for scalability and security.
  • Ownership mindset: ability to take a feature from idea → implementation → delivery → support.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, OR an additional 4 years of experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum Technical Skills:
    • 3 - 5 years of JavaScript experience (React required).
    • 3 - 5 years of Python experience.
    • 3 - 5 years of HTML/CSS experience.
    • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments.
    • Experience with Docker for development and deployments.
    • Proficiency with code‑quality tooling, code reviews, and documentation.
    • Strong API design fundamentals (pagination, filtering, versioning, error handling, OpenAPI/Swagger).
    • Experience integrating front‑end applications with APIs (auth flows, forms, error and loading states).
    • Understanding of state management and modern React patterns (hooks, context).
    • Ability to translate requirements into wireframes and user flows (Figma or similar tools).
  • Security Clearance:
    • U.S. Citizenship required.
    • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain and pass a polygraph.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
