Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Vessel Operator to work onsite in San Diego, California.  The vessel operator has demonstrated experience holding a boat coxswain or captain qualification from either a military or civilian source. Completes maintenance logs on required equipment, produces weekly reports on condition of such equipment—this includes, but is not limited to, pre-light/post-light, engine hours, maintenance completed, and any supplies needed. Experienced in conducting routine operational and preventative maintenance, including following OEM maintenance manuals. Performs basic troubleshooting to include replacing parts, may be expected to perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance which may include ordering new parts and the handling of hazardous materials. Employee will complete OEM or vendor-provided training for appropriate diesel and gas engine plus drive systems.

 

 

What you will do: 

  • Perform duties as a boat coxswain for the 11m RHIB, 38’ North River outboard, 27’ Whaler and Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC). Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of the vessel(s) diesel engine, water jet propulsion unit, outboard engines, and boat mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems to determine cause of issue and recommend corrective action and conduct repairs as needed
  • Perform pre and post inspections of vessels and fill out daily reports and logs.
  • Launch and recovery of vessels
  • Navigation and communications aboard the craft
  • Overall safe operations of the vessels
  • Testing and maintenance to ensure equipment is in operating condition.
  • General maintenance and troubleshooting of Multiquip and Honda generators.
  • When deployed in support of the fleet you will be responsible for MSE (Mission Support Equipment) electrical set-up and troubleshooting. If parts are needed, you will be responsible for reporting equipment issues through the Chain of Command
  • Cross-training with On-the-Job Training (OJT) and attending MK18 Family of Systems (FoS) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) courses to operate Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs)
  • Mandatory deployments to 5th Fleet AOR (Bahrain and surrounding areas), 6th Fleet AOR (Spain and surrounding areas), or 7th Fleet AOR (Guam and surrounding areas). Travel, lodging, and compensation provided by the company
  • Periodic travel CONUS or OCONUS to support operations at various military bases, government facilities, or to conduct shipboard operations out at sea.
  • Demonstrating experience and proficiency with MS Office products, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Completing all prerequisites for, and successfully maintaining a 25k and below forklift operator’s license and Category 3 crane certification.
  • Applying for and maintaining a Corporate Credit Card
Qualifications

What you will need: 

  • Active/Current DoD SECRET clearance, or the ability to obtain (within 2 years) and maintain a SECRET clearance
  • BS/BA or 4 years of related work experience
  • Meeting the MIL-STD for weight carrying limits and satisfying the requirements to handle man-portable UUV’s and equipment
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Valid US passport

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining 400hp or larger diesel engines, Hamilton jet drives, RHIB sponson repair and outboard engine troubleshooting, including repair
  • Maintain and clean tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Small marine craft qualifications and experience
  • Be able to work as a team and provide exceptional customer service and support

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
