About The Role
Peraton is currently skilled and qualified candidates for our Windows System Administrator position with the DOL ITOM program this position will be responsible for providing expertise in a multitenancy environment for services such as Active Directory, Center Configuration Manager, Virtualized Machines and more, will also working with other system administrators, DBA's and developers to resolve various system issues.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Coaching and mentoring junior members
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise for the following services supported by the team in a multitenancy environment: Active Directory (AD), System • Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Virtualized Machines in Hyper-V and VMware running Windows OS (Includes Virtual Desktops and Servers)
- Create reporting solutions and reports addressing the demands of the team and customers
- Working with engineering groups to deliver value to customers
- Responsible for the security and management of Windows servers and desktops in non-production and production environments
- Solve complex integration and technical problems in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Work with other Systems Administrators, DBAs, and application developers to resolve various system issues
- Escalating and liaising with additional groups when required, resulting in satisfactory resolution
- Resolving incidents impacting hosts or environment
- Investigating & troubleshooting root causes via problem management
- Creating, reviewing, maintaining, and updating documentation
- Facilitating knowledge amongst colleagues
- Planning and controlled execution of releases into the managed environment
- Providing input into Business Continuity Planning and Practices
- Assisting in major planned events such as power down and disaster recovery
- Responding to severity 1 and 2 escalations
- Develop and maintain windows platform for the server as a host, connected with multiple clients (other computers)
- Test and certify new versions of windows operating system providing better solution and integration for the application like VMware and SharePoint.
- Integrate the server automation process either by custom scripts or via third-party solutions.
- Implement regular checks for the status of servers including hardware and software.
- Maintain and support multi-site windows environment along with hardware and software configuration.
- Management of server migration when required by the client.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years’ experience or associates degree with 7+ years or high school diploma/GED with 9+ years.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- 5+ years of experience in supporting Windows Server Operating Systems
- 5+ years of experience in patch management: deep knowledge of Microsoft’s and other vendors’ practices.
- 3+ years supporting Citrix environments
- 3+ years of experience in Microsoft BI stack, including SQL server, SSRS and SSIS
- 2+ years of experience in participating in CAB meetings and approval flow of Production changes
- Good knowledge of PowerShell scripting
- Experience in deploying, migrating and supporting one or more core Microsoft technologies on a large scale environment (e.g. Active Directory, DFS-R, DFS-N, Printing, System Center Suite including Configuration Manager, Operations Manager and Orchestrator, WSUS, Failover Clustering)
- Expert with design, installation and configuration of Windows operating systems and applications to include Server 2012R2, Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 machines
- Expert with design, installation, configuration and management of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure to include Hyper-V
- Ability to architect and design an AD transformation to maximize the efficiency of the AD implementation
- Expert in troubleshooting servers, workstations, and user experience issues with various COTS and Custom applications
- Expert with SCCM for software patch management in a multi-tenancy environment
- Ability to architect, develop, and maintain documentation reflecting the current operational environment and any future state operational environments
Details
Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
